It’s been a big few months at LupaSearch, and we’re excited to finally share what we’ve been building behind the scenes.
From smarter recommendations to searching by voice — we’ve packed in plenty to explore.
Let’s dive into what’s new this month!
Ciao! Expanded language support
LupaSearch now supports two additional languages — Italian and Croatian — further improving multilingual search experiences and helping international businesses serve their customers in their native language.
Voice search is here!
Voice search is now available in LupaSearch! Powered by the latest Google technologies, voice search is available in all languages supported by both LupaSearch and Google, making it accessible to a wide range of users.
This upgrade will also strengthen your website accessibility, ensuring that customers with disabilities can interact with search more easily and intuitively.
Smarter and faster product recommendations
We’ve upgraded the LupaSearch recommendation engine to be faster, more scalable, and more relevant than ever. Here’s what now happens behind the scenes:
Infrastructure upgrade
The previous LupaSearch setup handled recommendations well, but we’ve now re-engineered the backend for speed and scalability. Key parts of the data are now moved to a graph database, unlocking better performance and personalization.
How did we achieve that?
Graph-powered personalization
Graphs are especially powerful in e-commerce search, and now we’re using them to their full potential.
We can connect the dots between a search query, cart additions, purchases, and related products. We use this data to serve your customers with more relevant product suggestions.
Category top items
When a shopper looks at a product, we now surface recommendations from the most popular items in that category branch. This means better suggestions that match both relevance and popularity.
Richer session data
Previously, recommendations were limited to data from the last ~100 sessions. Now, we’re drawing from significantly more sessions and events, capturing what other users with similar journeys have viewed and purchased. This brings much higher-quality session data into play.
What does it mean for you?
Your shoppers will now see smarter, faster, and more relevant recommendations.
For example, a customer searching for Christmas lights may also be shown cookies, tree ornaments, or wrapping paper — all because our system understands session patterns and product relationships at a deeper level.
Filling the search gaps with AI
We’ve also improved recommendations for cases where there isn’t enough session data. When traditional statistics fall short, AI now steps in to generate relevant suggestions.
A shopper searching for a massager might also see body creams, relaxation items, or sports equipment, while dog jackets could bring up puppy toys.
By blending AI-driven logic with behavioral data, we keep recommendations meaningful and inspiring — even when historical data is limited.
Smarter search personalizations
Exciting news!
We’ve introduced purchase-based personalization that adapts search results to each shopper’s habits. By linking queries with actual purchase history, LupaSearch can now prioritize products that better match individual interests.
For instance, a customer who often buys tennis gear will see tennis shoes ranked higher when they search for “shoes,” while a swim enthusiast searching for “cap” will be shown swim caps before generic options.
Such a search feels more relevant and is especially powerful for loyal brand customers.
Similar Queries: Smarter handling of zero results
Previously, when no exact keyword match was found, shoppers would see a “no results found” message before any suggestions appeared.
Now businesses can choose to skip that message entirely and immediately display product suggestions from similar queries.
This small but important change helps minimize friction and keeps customers browsing instead of bouncing away.
Good news for admins: Dashboard improvements
We’ve rolled out several enhancements to make the dashboard more powerful and user-friendly:
Easier rule management – rules can now be toggled on/off with a single click. We’ve also added rule sorting, giving admins full control over the order of execution (important since rules apply sequentially).
Smarter reporting – clients can now receive automated reports weekly or monthly, offering faster insights and more flexibility — especially useful for larger businesses.
