It’s been a big month here at LupaSearch, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been working on behind the scenes.
Spoiler alert: LupaSearch is now officially speaking more languages and giving you more control than ever.
Let’s jump into what’s new this June!
¡Hola! Spanish language
We’re expanding horizons! Spanish is now officially supported.
Initial testing shows that stemming and search logic work seamlessly for Spanish terms, helping your business serve Spanish-speaking customers with the same precision as English.
We’re excited, are you?
Control over related queries: show what you want
Until now, the Related Queries bar on search results auto-populated categories, sometimes leading to puzzling results (like dog training gear when searching exercise equipment—related, but definitely not what most shoppers meant).
Now you’re in charge. You can set custom rules and decide which categories, brands, or filters appear for any search query.
For example:
- Searching for exercise equipment? Show only categories you know are relevant to your customers.
- Searching for phones? Display Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and other brands, clearly categorized.
- Searching for Sony? Highlight TVs, PlayStation consoles, or whichever products are most popular (or profitable).
This creates a shopping experience that feels truly curated for each user.
Autocomplete in the boosting and filter sections
Managing which products appear first in search just got much simpler. We’ve added autocomplete in the Boosting and Filter sections.
When you set up new boosting rules, the console now autocompletes product attributes (like brands or categories) from your feed.
That means fewer typos, since you don’t need to guess the exact category or brand names.
(Our clients who have already tried this functionality have seen a significant reduction in human error, and therefore, more effective search.)
Pro tip:
Want to boost Sony products when shoppers search “console”? Just start typing “Sony”, and autocomplete will help you pick the right option instantly.
Improved understanding of grammatical forms
Previously, searching with or without diacritics in Lithuanian (like ė, ų, š) sometimes showed different results.
The good news? Not anymore!
With our improved dictionary stemmer, your customers can type product names without special characters and still get perfectly matched search results. Whether it’s zuvis, zuvys, zuvies, or žuvis (fish), the search now understands them the same way.
This improvement is especially critical for large catalogs where every misspelling could mean a lost sale.
